OTC 2026 Wraps Four Days of Dialogue on Offshore Energy's Next Frontiers

Thursday, May 07, 2026

Houston, Texas, USA (7 May 2026) – The 2026 Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) closed today after convening energy professionals, government officials, and researchers from more than 100 countries for four days of technical exchange, executive dialogues, and dealmaking. Anchored by this year's theme, Steering Offshore Energy Innovation into the Future, the conference traced the contours of a sector navigating rising global demand, accelerating digitalization, and a more complex geopolitical map than at any point in recent memory.

The week began with a landmark Opening General Session featuring His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, President of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana, who delivered an address before a packed audience. President Ali’s speech marked one of the highest-profile head-of-state appearances in OTC's history, reinforcing the conference's standing as a neutral global venue where industry, governments, and academia converge. The speech was followed by a special recognition ceremony honoring this year’s Distinguished Achievement Award honorees and an official ribbon-cutting to open the exhibit floor.

Nearly 25,000 people attended OTC Houston, bringing total participation across the OTC global portfolio of conferences to approximately 75,000 participants over the past year, including OTC Asia and OTC Brasil. This year's conference in Houston featured nine executive dialogues, 18 keynote addresses, 48 technical sessions, and a wide range of additional presentations covering the full spectrum of the offshore industry. The exhibit floor hosted nearly 1,000 companies, from major operators and service companies to a growing roster of digital, robotics, and energy-transition technology providers.

The Around the World Series brought a strong international dimension to the program with delegations from Brazil, Canada, Guyana, Argentina, Indonesia, and a group of several African nations, offering attendees a window into regional regulatory frameworks, project pipelines, and cross-border partnerships. Other widely attended sessions included an Executive Dialogue with Kyle Haustveit of the U.S. Department of Energy, and multiple discussions on the opportunities and challenges facing the reinvigorated Venezuelan oil & gas sector.

"In an era of heightened geopolitical tension, offshore energy is more critical than ever—and OTC is the platform delivering the technology shaping its future,” said Dan McConnell, Chairman of the OTC Board of Directors. "The conversations on stage and across the exhibit floor reflect an industry that is more globally connected, more technologically ambitious, and more central to the energy security debate than at any point I can recall. We are grateful to the speakers, exhibitors, and delegates who made this week possible."

OTC would also like to recognize Rebuilding Together Houston as the 2026 beneficiary of its philanthropic giving, continuing a tradition of partnering with local nonprofits during the conference week. The organization was honored at this year's Opening Ceremony, where they received a USD 10,000 contribution from OTC, to support its longstanding work repairing homes and strengthening neighborhoods across the Greater Houston area.

OTC 2027 will take place 3–5 May at Reliant Park in Houston, Texas. For updates, exhibitor information, and registration details, visit www.otcnet.org.
