OTC BRASIL NAMES 2019 DISTINGUISHED
ACHIEVEMENT AWARD RECIPIENTS

Honorees to Be Recognized during Luncheon in Rio de Janeiro

Richardson Texas, USA (20 August 2019) – OTC Brasil has named its 2019 Distinguished Achievement Award recipients. Carlos Tadeu Fraga will be honored for individual achievement and Petrobras’ EWT Libra Project is being recognized for corporate achievement. These achievements are truly significant contributions to the oil and gas industry in Brazil.

OTC Brasil will host an Awards Luncheon on 30 October at the SulAmérica Convention Center in Rio de Janeiro to honor the award recipients.

OTC Brasil Distinguished Achievement Award for Individuals
Carlos Tadeu Fraga will be honored for his outstanding leadership and key roles in the advancement of deepwater oil and gas production projects in the areas of well construction, subsea and topsides.

As Petrobras’ Executive Manager, Tadeu led the R&D team involved in the development of several technologies applied on pre-salt fields, and played a vital role on the implementation of pre-salt developments, from conceptual design to first oil.

Tadeu has more than 38 years of experience in the oil and gas sector, with leading expertise in deep waters. He served as a board member of several technology institutions in Brazil, where he made key contributions to the technological development of universities and research institutes.

He currently serves as the CEO of Prumo Logistica. He also serves as a board member on the Brazilian Institute for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (IBP).

During his career, he has received multiple institutional recognitions including the Commander Degree by the National Order of Scientific Merit and the Personality of the Year for Innovation by the Brazilian National Agency of Oil, Gas and Biofuels.

OTC Brasil Distinguished Achievement Award for Companies, Organizations, and Institutions

Petrobras will be presented this award in recognition of its groundbreaking Extended Well Test (EWT) Libra Project. The Libra EWT pushed the concept of the dynamical appraisal to a new dimension.

The design of the EWT was planned to maximize the interference information from the observer wells equipped with remote pressure sensors. The FPSO Pioneiro de Libra was built with an innovative approach of simultaneous oil production and gas injection while measuring the pressure disturbance in different parts of the field using remote pressure monitoring devices.

The EWT project plays a vital role in de-risking a sequence of multi-billion dollar fast-track developments, as dynamic information from the reservoir is fed into the project design.
