RICHARDSON, Texas, U.S.A. (23 April 2004)—The Offshore Technology
Conference (OTC) has partnered with NearSpace Inc. to offer a new
service to the annual event's more than 50,000 attendees. The service
allows attendees to download important aspects of the program and
exhibition to their personal digital assistants (PDAs) and "smart
phones."
The digital guide is available for Palm OS and Pocket PC devices.
Coined the "OTC Digital Guide," the service allows users
convenient access to daily schedules, session descriptions and locations,
trade show floor plans and exhibitor information, venue and local
area maps, and much more.
"We're excited to be able to offer the OTC Digital Guide to
attendees," said OTC .04 Chairman Rod Allan. "As we're
also celebrating 35 years as the industry's largest annual conference,
this new and innovative service shows how far the conference has
come. It's a huge benefit for attendees to have all this information
at their fingertips, and it will make their OTC experience more
streamlined and efficient."
"We're delighted to work with a show as large and dynamic
as OTC," said Creighton Hoke, CEO and co-founder of NearSpace,
Inc. "OTC .04 provides attendees with a four-day experience
rich in learning opportunities. We help attendees sort through what's
available and make the best use of their time. Attendees can use
the OTC Digital Guide to build a personal itinerary or a prioritized
list of exhibits they wish to see. They can create a custom map
of the exhibit floor, which spans all five halls of the Reliant
Center. They can even use it to generate an electronic trip report,
complete with a list of follow-up actions and contact information."
Attendees can download the OTC Digital Guide prior to the conference
from www.otcnet.org/2004. Once at
the conference, they can update it at infrared, touch-screen kiosks
in the Registration area.
