The Offshore Technology Conference Names 2007 Distinguished Achievement Award Recipients; Heritage Award Recipients

RICHARDSON, Texas, USA (March 1, 2007) – The Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) will present the 2007 Distinguished Achievement Awards to Marcos Assayag of Petrobras, and to Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, Helix Energy Solutions and Enterprise Product Partners for their contributions to the offshore industry at the annual OTC Awards Luncheon on 1 May at Reliant Center in Houston, Texas, USA. The world’s largest conference for offshore development is 30 April-3 May 2007.

Assayag will receive the OTC Distinguished Achievement Award for Individuals for his sustained and continuing contributions to the offshore industry through efforts to develop and foster new technologies for deepwater production. As the leader of the successful PROCAP programs for Petrobras, he developed technological processes that allowed the company to produce in water as deep as 2,000 meters (6,560 feet) and set the foundation to allow production in the 3,000 meters (9840 feet) water-depth range. Assayag is currently the basic design general manager at Petrobras R&D Center, covering areas such as production, refining, natural gas and petrochemical plants.

OTC's 2007 Distinguished Achievement Award for Companies, Organizations and Institutions recognizes Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, Helix Energy Solutions and Enterprise Product Partners for their joint development of the Marco Polo Project, the world’s deepest application of tension leg platform technology that led to the industry’s first production in 4,300 feet (1,310 meters) of water. The companies created a major deepwater hub facility in an area with significant surrounding reserves in the Gulf of Mexico.

Also at the 2007 Awards Luncheon, OTC will mark the 60th anniversary of offshore exploration and production activities by presenting three Heritage Awards that recognize individuals who have provided distinguished service and significant contributions to the development of offshore resources. The Heritage Awards have been given only once previously, when the award was established in 1997 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the offshore industry. The 2007 Heritage Award recipients are Jon Gjedebo, founder of Hitec Inc.; John Huff, chairman of the board of Oceaneering International; and Owen Kratz, chairman of Helix Energy Solutions Group.

The keynote address at the luncheon will be presented by Chad Deaton, chairman of the board and CEO of Baker Hughes. The OTC Awards Luncheon is a ticketed event at US $40 per ticket. For more information about OTC, including registration, visit http://www.otcnet.org/2007.
