RICHARDSON, Texas, U.S.A. (3 February 2003)—Three
Industry Breakfasts bring industry leaders from around the world
to discuss key developing regions at the 2003 Offshore Technology
Conference (OTC). The specially designed breakfasts will be held
Tuesday, 6 May through Thursday, 8 May from 7:30 to 9 a.m. (0730
to 0900).
After two very successful years, the industry
breakfasts continue to draw strong participation from OTC attendees.
Last year’s breakfasts experienced record-breaking attendance.
The Industry Breakfasts take place at Reliant Center and each breakfast
is U.S. $25 to attend.
– Business Opportunities in Venezuela’s and Trinidad
& Tobago’s Oil and Gas Sectors
Hosted by the U.S. Department of Commerce, this discussion features
presentations by senior officials from the industry and the Venezuelan
government on current and future business opportunities in this
region.
– Business Opportunities in Sakhalin Island’s Oil and
Gas Sector
Hosted by the Department of Commerce, the State of Texas, and the
Sakhalin Administration, this session focuses on the needs and requirements
of doing business in the offshore oil and gas sector on Sakhalin
Island. Large existing operators are delineating their present and
future needs while the Sakhalin Administration lays out the requirements
for doing business. The U.S. Foreign Commercial Service also presents
assistance and solutions to assist U.S. exporters in penetrating
the Russian market.
– World Energy Cities Partnership (WECP) – Benefits
to Emerging Countries
This executive roundtable addresses labor force and skills requirements
now and in the future with a focus on initiatives by leading energy
cities and industries. As the Secretariat of the WECP and head of
the host city for OTC, Houston Mayor Lee Brown opens the session,
with Michelle Michot Foss, Director of the Energy Institute at the
University of Houston, serving as moderator of a panel of mayors
from WECP member cities worldwide.
Founded in 1969, the Offshore Technology Conference
is the world’s foremost event for the development of offshore
resources in the fields of drilling, exploration, production and
