RICHARDSON, Texas, U.S.A. (26 March 2003) –
For the first time in its 34-year history, the Offshore Technology
Conference (OTC) is partnering with Major League Baseball’s
Houston Astros to offer a new and exciting opportunity to conference
attendees and exhibitors.
OTC is scheduled Monday through Thursday, 5-8
May at Reliant Center at Reliant Park in Houston, coinciding with
the Astros home series at Minute Maid Park against the Pittsburgh
Pirates. The Astros play three 7:05 p.m. games (Monday-Wednesday)
and one 1:05 p.m. game (Thursday) during the conference. OTC participants,
exhibitors, their families, and colleagues can purchase discounted
tickets for these games online at www.OTCnet.org or at the Astros
Booth at the conference.
“We are thrilled to have this opportunity
to extend special ticket prices to OTC and to reach the diverse
audience that OTC draws,” said John Sorrentino, Vice-President
of Ticket Sales and Services for the Houston Astros. “It gives
us the opportunity to introduce the Houston Astros to OTC participants
from more than 110 countries worldwide.”
The Tuesday night game (6 May), starting at
7:05 p.m., is designated as “OTC Night at the Ballpark.”
During this game, OTC Chairman Charlie Richards throws out the ceremonial
first pitch, along with many other activities to build awareness
of OTC among the general public.
“An informative and visual display about
the offshore industry will be on display at Minute Maid Park,”
said Richards. “OTC will distribute information from this
stand related to the offshore industry and the 12 OTC sponsoring
organizations. This partnership with the Astros gives OTC an opportunity
to broaden public awareness about benefits the industry delivers
to Houston and to the rest of the world.”
