RICHARDSON, Texas, U.S.A. (20 March 2003) –
A fourth Industry Breakfast is scheduled for the Offshore Technology
Conference (OTC). The breakfast, titled “North Sea Opportunities
Forum,” takes place Monday, 5 May, at 7:30 a.m.
For the past two years, industry breakfasts
have been an important part of OTC and draw strong participation
from attendees. Last year’s breakfasts experienced record-breaking
attendance.
“This industry breakfast focuses on one
of the most active regions in the offshore industry,” said
Kevin Murphy, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Energy,
Environment, and Materials. “Oil and gas companies invested
an enormous amount of funding in 2002 toward development of new
technologies vital to the future of the North Sea. Similar funding
in 2003 will increase the development of advanced technologies to
improve the search for, and recovery of hydrocarbons.”
The Monday morning breakfast is hosted by the
U.S. Department of Commerce and the U.K. Department of Trade and
Industry and highlights the changing business environment in the
North Sea and the drive to attract new investment there. Presentations
and participants include:
Moderator: Kevin Murphy, Deputy
Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Energy, Environment, and Materials,
U.S. Department of Commerce
Panelists: Brian Wilson MP, Minister of State for
Energy and Construction, U.K. Department of Trade and Industry;
and Martin Lovegrove, Managing Director of Harrison Lovegrove &
Co.
Presentations: “U.K. Government Initiatives
to Stimulate Activity in the U.K. North Sea;” “U.K.
North Sea Oil and Gas – Industry, Outlook, and Opportunities;”
and “U.S. Industry Perspective on North Sea Opportunities”
Three other OTC Industry Breakfasts are scheduled
for Tuesday through Thursday, 6-8 May: “Business Opportunities
in Venezuela’s and Trinidad and Tobago’s Oil and Gas
Sectors;” “Business Opportunities in Sakhalin Island’s
Oil and Gas Sector;” and “World Energy Cities Partnership
(WECP) – Benefits to Emerging Countries.” Each breakfast
is U.S. $25 to attend.
