RICHARDSON, Texas, U.S.A. (23 December 2002)-Walter
van de Vijver, Group Manager and Director of the Royal Dutch/Shell
Group of Companies and CEO of Shell Exploration and Production,
will deliver the Keynote Address at the 2003 Offshore Technology
Conference (OTC) Awards Luncheon on Tuesday, 6 May 2003, at Reliant
Center in Houston.
The presentation by van de Vijver is among
the many highlights of the 35th OTC, which annually draws more than
45,000 oil and gas professionals. The OTC Awards Luncheon and the
Keynote Address are considered centerpiece events for the four-day
conference, scheduled for 5-8 May 2003.
Beginning his career with Royal Dutch/Shell
Group in 1979, van de Vijver has had global assignments in Qatar,
Oman, the U.S., the U.K., and The Netherlands.
He started his Shell career as a field engineer
and he has had a variety of jobs in the Group's Exploration and
Production business before being appointed General Manager of the
Brent Business Unit in Shell UK Exploration and Production in 1993.
During his service there, van de Vijver initiated and implemented
the massive Brent Redevelopment Project. In 1997, he became Chief
Executive of Shell International Gas and Shell Coal International
in London. In August 1998 he was named President and Chief Executive
Officer of Shell Exploration and Production Co. In the U.S. he led
the restructuring and repositioning of the Exploration and Production
and Gas and Power Business. Van de Vijver holds an MS degree in
civil engineering from Delft University of Technology.

Technology Conference is the world's foremost event for the development
of offshore resources in the fields of drilling, exploration, production
