Matthew Simmons of Simmons & Co. International to Moderate 2002 OTC Energy Roundtable

RICHARDSON, Texas, U.S.A. (28 February 2002) - Matthew Simmons, founder and chairman of Houston-based Simmons & Co. International, will moderate the 2002 OTC Energy Roundtable to be held in conjunction with the 34th Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston, 6-9 May.

Simmons, a prolific author and world-renowned expert in energy investment strategies, has guided industry clients in more than 400 investment-banking projects for a combined value of approximately U.S. $40 billion.

The Roundtable, scheduled for 6 May at the Reliant Center in Reliant Park, brings together some of energy's elite business and government leaders from around the world to explore relevant topics centered around this year's theme, "The Role of Offshore in a Global Energy Arena." The Roundtable will address energy policy, the role of natural gas, offshore licensing and access to natural resources, among others. Participation is by invitation-only.

As part of the official proceedings, an Industry Leaders Luncheon will be held for delegates to the 2002 OTC Energy Roundtable, as well as chief executive officers, noted dignitaries from peer organizations, and key representatives from the City of Houston.

The 2002 OTC Energy Roundtable is an offshoot of the first Global Energy Summit held in the spring of 2000 and designed to provide a confidential forum for oil and gas leaders and energy ministers to discuss pertinent issues impacting the industry throughout the world. This year's Roundtable event will conclude with a press conference immediately following the proceedings and Industry Leaders Luncheon.

The 2002 OTC Energy Roundtable precedes the Offshore Technology Conference, which attracts a global audience of leading engineers, managers and scientists whose technology endeavors are showcased at the Conference. Last year's conference drew more than 47,000 participants to the City of Houston.

Founded in 1969, the Offshore Technology Conference is the world's foremost event for the development of offshore resources in the fields of drilling, exploration, production and environmental protection. OTC is held annually in May at Reliant Center at Reliant Park in Houston. For more information, visit the OTC 2002 Web site at www.OTCnet.org.
