RICHARDSON, Texas, U.S.A. (4 March 2002) ‑- The Offshore
Technology Conference will recognize ExxonMobil's Hoover Diana Project
- the first simultaneous co-development of multiple deepwater fields
- as part of the 2002 OTC Awards Banquet.
OTC is presenting this year's Distinguished Achievement Award for
Companies, Organizations, and Institutions to ExxonMobil for its
Hoover Diana Project, which uses a Deep Draft Caisson Vessel (DDCV)
installed over the Hoover field and remote subsea satellite wells
to produce the Diana field some 15 miles away. Steel catenary risers
connect pipelines and flowlines to the DDCV.
Each year, OTC recognizes outstanding work and service in the industry
by honoring an individual and an organization or company at the
OTC Awards Luncheon, scheduled for Tuesday, 7 May, at Reliant Center
at Reliant Park.
Located 160 miles south of Galveston, Texas,
U.S.A., in the Gulf of Mexico, the Hoover Diana DDCV is the world's
deepest water drilling and production platform with an associated
subsea tieback system. Oil and gas production began in July 2000
in approximately 4,800 feet of water.
The 83-story tall DDCV floats vertically and is almost half of a
football field in diameter with drilling and production facilities
installed. The Diana field is a subsea development that uses five
horizontally completed wells tied back to the DDCV. The OTC award
also recognizes the project's advanced deepwater technology and
accomplishments in subsea horizontal drilling, installation of deepwater
pipelines/risers/mooring systems, and the heaviest module lifts
onto a floating surface offshore.
Founded in 1969, the Offshore Technology Conference is the
world's foremost event for the development of offshore resources
in the fields of drilling, exploration, production and environmental
protection. OTC is held annually in May at Reliant Center at Reliant
Park in Houston. For more information, visit the OTC 2002 Web site
