HOUSTON, Texas, U.S.A. (7 May 2002) - Adrian
Cottrill, a 30-year veteran of oil and gas journalism, will receive
the Third Frank Frazer Award on Wednesday, 8 May, at the annual
Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) Press Reception.
The award, sponsored by Weatherford, is presented
to an industry journalist who is recognized by peers for "excellence
in journalism" in memory of Frank Frazer, an Aberdeen-based
journalist who covered OTC for more than 20 years. The annual Press
Reception begins at 5 p.m. in the Press Conference Room (100-100A)
on the first level of the Reliant Center at Reliant Park in Houston.
Cottrill is Technology Editor for Upstream, an
Oslo-based weekly dedicated to global oil and gas news. He previously
spent more than 20 years in various positions at Offshore Engineer
magazine.
"Adrian has covered the offshore oil and
gas industry for nearly 30 years. He has been a permanent fixture
at OTC, and he has a tremendous reputation among both colleagues
and in oil industry circles," one nominator wrote. "Also,
in true 'Frazerian' spirit, Adrian always demonstrates his willingness
to help out other reporters with their stories."
Another nominator noted Cottrill "has always
been a meticulously careful journalist with an eye for a good story
and a flair for writing. On top of that, he has always been a model
of courtesy and civility, albeit with an occasionally wicked sense
of humor."
Founded in 1969, the Offshore Technology
Conference is the world's foremost event for the development of
offshore resources in the fields of drilling, exploration, production
and environmental protection. OTC is held annually in May at Reliant
Center at Reliant Park in Houston. For more information, visit the
OTC 2002 Web site at www.OTCnet.org.
