Panel: Burst! What is it?

One of the principle criteria for the design of a deepwater pipeline is the selection of the proper wall thickness needed to satisfy installation, test, and operating conditions. The definition of the term “burst” impacts this selection process.

Over the past year, many people have spent significant time looking into the ramifications of the several equations for determining burst failure of a pipeline.

A high-level panel will discuss the implication this term has on the design of submarine pipelines and risers in deep water in the Gulf of Mexico and worldwide.
