Brad Tomer, Director, Strategic Center for Natural Gas and Oil, US Department of Energy
Brad Tomer is the director of the Strategic Center for Natural Gas and Oil at the National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL). He is responsible for implementing research and development activities aimed at providing national and economic security to the US through reliable, clean, and affordable supplies of oil and natural gas. This responsibility includes a broad range of technology initiatives in the areas of oil and natural gas exploration and production, environmental solutions, and methane hydrates. Tomer also serves as a member of NETL’s executive board.
Prior to joining NETL, Tomer was a petroleum engineer at the Belvoir Research, Development, and Engineering Center. He has more than 23 years’ experience in successfully moving technologies from concept to field deployment.
Tomer has a BS degree in petroleum and natural gas engineering from Pennsylvania State University, an MBA degree from George Mason University, and a master’s degree in economics from West Virginia University.
