OTC Energy Roundtable
Tuesday, 1 May 2007
9:30–11:45 am
Reliant Center Room 204
Houston, Texas, USA
This exclusive event invites leading energy industry executives to engage in a spirited discussion on a challenging topic, "Energy Epicenter: Where is it? Where is it going?"
Attendance is by invitation only. For more information, contact ert@otcnet.org.
The 2007 Roundtable will have a town hall meeting format that engages the audience in the discussion. Instead of having formal presentations, a skilled moderator will ask expert panelists to make comments on specific topics. The audience will have the opportunity to question, debate or comment on the topics through direct dialogues with the panelists and electronic voting.
Invitations are extended to executive-level managers. The final structure and subject matter for the Roundtable may be modified at the time of the conference to ensure that the latest issues are discussed.
Energy Epicenter - Where is it? Where is it going?
What really drives or inhibits the energy business today? Given the roles of national oil companies (NOCs) and challenges for international oil companies (IOCs) to replace reserves, what are the forces influencing access to hydrocarbon resources and what are the implications for global supply?
A number of critical factors are at play: demand from emerging markets; competition for supplies among the biggest consumer markets such as the US, China, India and other emerging nations; the environment and climate change; and geopolitics.
Is oil a foreign policy weapon? Can technical barriers continue to be overcome by private companies without R&D subsidies? Who will dictate the market "rules of the game:" NOCs; IOCs; breakthrough technology owners; or asset, rig, and large-vessel owners? These questions require a careful and thorough framework for analysis.
