The presentation, “Challenges in International Operations,” will focus on
- Setting up ties in other countries--alignment of drivers to develop long-term relationships
- Assessing infrastructure of the country and setting operations to efficiently monitor work in addition to allowing for the local content
- Dealings with National Oil Companies (NOCs) on technology transfer; promoting contractors to set-up local bases to transfer technology
Additionally, the presentation addresses strategies to commercialize international natural gas resources and deliver them to the premier North American market.
Speaker Profile
Don MacLiver is senior vice president, International Business Development for Anadarko International Energy Company, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, one of the world’s largest independent exploration and production companies. As such he oversees the company’s international business development activities where he is tasked with identifying and capturing the high impact, long-term opportunities which will provide future growth for the company. MacLiver joined the company in 1996 as production manager of Anadarko Algeria Company and has held positions of increasing responsibility in both the UK and Algeria since that time. He was named operations manager in 1999 followed by his appointment as president and general manager, Algeria in February 2001 and then as managing director, Algeria in December 2003. Prior to joining Anadarko, MacLiver spent 14 years with Amoco in the UK and US. He graduated from Leeds University with a BS degree in mechanical engineering and resides in London.
