Wells of the Future: How Close is Today’s Technology?
Robert M. Hinkel, President and CEO, Enventure Global Technology
With an eye on the "well of the future," this presentation focus on how emerging downhole technologies revolutionize the way wells are drilled and completed. Case histories and planned developments will be presented that feature the latest drilling and completion technologies and applications, including intelligent completions, expandable tubular technology, extreme extended reach drilling programs, maximum reservoir contact multilaterals and surface stack options for deepwater. Featured studies and comments will reflect projects in all of the world’s major oil provinces.
Speaker Profile
Robert Hinkel is president and CEO of Enventure Global Technology, a joint venture between Shell Technology Ventures, Inc. and Halliburton Energy Services. He is primarily responsible for implementing the company’s overall strategy and directing the worldwide growth of its solid expandable tubular products and services. Prior to joining Enventure, Hinkel worked 21 years at Unocal where he held jobs in drilling and operations management, procurement and logistics, and general management. He worked on creating the Spirit 76 business unit in the US and then became the senior vice president of Unocal Indonesia, where he led production operations and started their deepwater exploration and development program. In 2000, he was promoted to president and CEO of Molycorp, Inc., Unocal’s wholly-owned mining subsidiary. Hinkel started his career in 1977 as a Drilling Fluids Engineer for IMCO Services. He earned a BS in petroleum engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and a master’s degree in international management from Thunderbird University in Phoenix.
