This presentation discusses the legal environment for providing/contracting for oilfield services in Russia, including an update on recent legislative developments such as the Subsoil Law. It also examines the top 10 mistakes/problems that are made/afflict foreign investors and service providers doing business in Russia.

Speaker Profile
Shane DeBeer, a lawyer admitted to practice in California, Texas and the District of Columbia and admitted as a solicitor to the Law Society of England and Wales, is a partner resident in Chadbourne’s Moscow office. His practice is centered on oil and gas and other energy-related matters, international and corporate transactions, project finance and various other matters with a particular emphasis on structuring and financing transactions in the former Soviet Union.

DeBeer’s experience in large US, Russian and international transactions involves rendering services in the energy sector, the sale and purchase of assets and interests in energy companies, investment in and by major international energy concerns, and advising global clients on energy and corporate matters in a variety of international settings. He holds a BA from the University of California at Irvine and MS and JD degrees from Georgetown University.
