World Energy Project Chief, U.S. Geological
Survey
Thomas Ahlbrandt currently serves as the World Energy Project Chief for
the U.S. Geological Survey in Denver where he manages a group of 41 employees
and led the recent USGS World Petroleum Assessment 2000. He has 19 years
of industry experience in exploration and research with ExxonMobil, BPAmoco,
Amerada Hess and independents, and an additional 20 years of service with
the U.S. Geological Survey. He serves as the Vice Chairman for the United
Nations Committee (UNECE), Ad Hoc Group of Experts on the Supply of Fossil
Fuels. This group prepared a document, which was later adopted by the United
Nations, to harmonize petroleum, uranium and coal reserve and resource
terminology, and coordinate it with international accounting and financial
standards. He holds a B.A. and a Ph.D. degree in geology from the University
of Wyoming.

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Institut
Francais du Pétrole (IFP)
Olivier Appert was appointed chairman and chief executive officer of
Institut Français du Pétrole (IFP) in 2003. Previously,
he served as director of the International Energy Agency’s Long-Term
Co-operation and Policy Analysis Directorate; senior executive vice president
of ISIS, a technology holding company and publicly listed subsidiary
of IFP; executive vice president at IFP in charge of research and development
activities; and head of the Oil and Gas Department of the French Industry
Ministry. He also served as executive director of the French Industry
Minister’s cabinet and was a member of Prime Minister Pierre Mauroy’s
cabinet. Appert is a graduate of the l’Ecole Polytechnique and
l’Ecole des Mines.

President and Chief Executive Officer, Petrotechnical
Open Standards Consortium (POSC)
David Archer is president and chief executive officer of POSC. In this
role, he is the leader of the consortium with responsibility for its direction,
operation and communication with both the POSC Community and the industry
at large. Throughout his professional career, Archer been very interested
in new technologies and has helped pioneer several for the industry—among
these are graphical user interfaces, 3D visualization, XML and Web services.
The two themes of collaboration and new technologies have been central
to his tenure at POSC. He holds M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in mathematical
sciences from Rice University as well as a B.S. degree in mathematics from
Texas Christian University.

Senior Executive Vice President, AMEC
Paragon
Kenneth E. Arnold serves as senior executive vice president of AMEC Paragon
and was the founder of Paragon Engineering Services in Houston. He has
40 years of experience in facilities engineering design and project management,
having worked on both onshore and offshore projects in many areas of the
world. He is co-author of two textbooks and more than 50 technical articles
on this subject. Arnold has taught facilities engineering at the University
of Houston. He is a registered professional engineer and serves on the
advisory board of the engineering schools of Tulane University and Cornell
University. He holds an MS degree in civil engineering from Tulane University
and a BS degree in civil engineering from Cornell University.

Chief of
the Libyan Liaison Office, Washington, DC
Ambassador Ali Aujali was named Chief of the Libyan Interests
Section in Washington, DC in 2004, after serving as the Charge
d’Affairs at the Libyan Embassy in Ottawa, Canada. While
serving in Canada, Ambassador Aujali founded the Libya/Canada
Business Council. He has held a variety of positions in the
Minstiry of Foreign Affairs in Tripoli, including deputy director
general of the Americas Department, director general of the
North and South Americas Department, and director general of
European Affairs. He also participated in a number of United
Nations General Congress sessions and led Libyan delegations
to the Forum for Dialogue in the Western Mediterranean. He
holds a BA in business administration from the University of
Benghazi.

Technical Director, EP Americas, Shell
Exploration and Production
Gaurdie E. Banister, Jr., serves as technical director for Shell EP Americas,
where he has responsibility for drilling and development activities in
North and South America. Banister is primarily responsible for the U.S.
$1.3 billion capital spent in the region as well as reserves maturation.
He also has oversight for strategic technology implementation and information
technology. Banister joined Shell in 1980 in New Orleans and has served
in many capacities since then. He is a member of the Board of Directors
of Aera Energy, LLC, and Enventure Global Technology. Banister holds a
degree in metallurgical engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines
and Technology and received an honorary doctorate degree in arts and sciences
from Fort Valley State University.

Gunnar Berge
has served as director general of the Norwegian Petroleum
Directorate since 1997. He has held a number of
important offices, including parliamentary leader of the
Labour Party, member of the central committee of the Labour
Party, and vice chairman. He also served as chairman and
deputy chairman of the Standing Committee on Finance. From
1989 to 1990 he was deputy chairman of the Standing Committee
on Energy and Industry. He was a delegate to the United Nation's

Henyo Barreto has served as executive manager for Corporate Gas and Energy
and as a
member of the office of chief executive officer for Petrobras since 2004.
He has been with Petrobras since 1962, rising up through various managerial

Terra Seismic. He has thirty years of experience in oil service, energy

David Bohigian currently serves as the director of the Office of Policy
and Strategic Planning at the US Department of Commerce. As the principal
policy advisor to the secretary, he formulates and recommends policy positions
and initiatives for the department. His focus has been on economic and
fiscal policy, as well as energy, manufacturing, trade and financial services.
Prior to his presidential appointment, Bohigian served as a managing director
of Idealab. Bohigian also developed policy understanding and experience
through serving in the office of Speaker Newt Gingrich, including the first
100 days of the 1995 Congress: the “Contract with America.” Bohigian
received a JD from Washington University and a BA in journalism, cum laude,
from Washington & Lee University.

Branch of the Industry Sector of Industry Canada
Bruce Bowie has served as Director General of the Energy and Marine Branch
of the Industry Sector of Industry Canada since its creation in 2001.
He is responsible for working in partnership with industry and federal
and provincial organizations to increase the energy and marine sectors'
contribution to the Canadian economy. Before joining Industry Canada,
Bowie served as Chief Operating Officer for the Canadian Firearms Center
within the Department of Justice. He also served in several positions
with Transport Canada including Executive Director, Marine Policy Reform,
Director and Marine Policy. Prior to these positions, he served as General
Manager at the Ottawa International Airport.
Bowie holds a degree in public administration, a masters

Protection, United States Coast Guard
Ronald Branch currently serves as Chief,
Maritime Safety, Security and Environmental Protection
on the staff of the Eighth Coast Guard District
Commander. He is responsible for all maritime safety
and security operations for 26 states and all offshore
Gulf of Mexico outer continental shelf operations.
Branch has held various positions in the Marine
Safety Office sector in posts throughout the U.S.
He also served on the Multinational Maritime Interception
Force, during which time he was assigned independent
duty in Kuwait to organize and execute oil containment
activities in the Port of Ash Shu'aybah, resulting
in the first post-Gulf War reconstitution of a
Kuwait port.
Branch received his commission from the Officer Candidate
School in July 1979. He holds a BS degree from Oklahoma
State University, an MBA from Ashland University of Ohio,
and is currently enrolled in the Naval War College Master
of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies program.

Brad Burke serves as managing director of the Rice Alliance for Technology
and Entrepreneurship and is responsible for leading the organization in
its mission to support technology commercialization and the launch of early-stage
technology companies in the Houston area. Burke joined the Rice Alliance
from Viant Corporation, where he founded and launched the Houston office.
Prior to Viant, he was a Principal with CSC Index, the strategic management

Former Opposition Leader Ed Byrne serves as the minister of Natural Resources
and government house leader for Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. As a
member of the House of Assembly in the PC Caucuses of three leaders, he
served in several shadow portfolios including Post-secondary Education;
Employment and Labour Relations; Environment, and Industry, Trade and Technology;

Eileen M. Campbell has served as vice president of Human Resources at
Marathon Oil Corporation since September 2000. She joined Marathon at
the Houston headquarters in 1991 as manager of Government Affairs, lobbying

Linda Mysliwy Conlin has served as
a member of the board of directors of the Export-Import Bank
of the United States
since April 2004. She has a long and distinguished career
as an international marketing and management executive, including
an extensive public service background promoting commerce
on both the state and federal levels. Prior to joining the
bank, Conlin served as assistant secretary for Trade Development
at the US Department of Commerce, where she worked to help
US businesses succeed in the global marketplace. She administered
the Trade Information Center and the Advocacy Center, and
oversaw the President's Export Council. Conlin helped break
new ground in trade in health care services for US pharmaceutical
and medical equipment companies in Russia. She expanded dialogue
between US and Polish businesses and government leaders as

David C. Elliott serves as Senior Petroleum Evaluation Geologist for the
Alberta Securities Commission. He started his 38 years in the petroleum
industry on the wellsite, and he has worked in technical and management

Patricia Galloway is an internationally qualified expert in project management,

Chief Executive Officer, Vetco International
Peter Goode serves as chief executive officer of Vetco, International.
Previously he served as president of SIS, an operating unit of Schlumberger
that provides consulting, software, information management and IT infrastructure
services to support the core operational processes of the oil and gas industry.
Prior to his current role, he was president of the Well Completion and
Productivity business, after serving as president of Reservoir Management,
and vice president and general manager of Integrated Project Management.
He also is chairman of the Board for the Network of Excellence in Training
(NexT), an oil and gas industry-focused training company owned jointly
by Schlumberger, the University of Oklahoma, Texas A&M University and
Heriot-Watt University. He holds a Ph.D. in petroleum engineering from
Heriot-Watt University and a B.S. degree in mathematics from the University
of Adelaide.

James Hackett was named President and Chief Executive Officer of Anadarko
Petroleum Corporation, one of the world's largest independent oil and
gas exploration and production companies, in December 2003. Before joining
Anadarko, Hackett served as President and Chief Operating Officer of
Devon Energy Corporation following its merger with Ocean Energy where
he served as Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer. Ocean Energy
was a product of a merger with Seagull Energy Corporation where he was
Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President. He joined Seagull from
Duke Energy where he led its Energy Services Division as President. Prior
to that, he was Executive Vice President of Pan Energy. His energy experience
also includes positions in engineering, finance and marketing with NGC
Corp., Burlington Resources and Amoco Oil Co.

Ron Harrell serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Ryder Scott
Company LP. He joined the consulting firm as a reservoir engineer in 1968,
became vice president in 1970, director in 1980 and president in 1998.
Harrell has managed reservoir engineering and geological studies worldwide,
including property evaluations for acquisitions and divestitures, financing,
reservoir management, gas supply analysis, gas storage studies and litigation
support. Expert testimony activities include various appearances before

Mark Heitner joined the World Bank in 1972 as a young professional. Following
five years in the Public Utilities Department, where he was a financial
analyst, he joined the Energy Department entrusted with the petroleum sector.
Heitner left the Bank in 1981 and worked as an international energy consultant,
and subsequently as General Manager of an upstream oil company. In 1994,
he returned to the Bank and has worked on various power and petroleum projects
in Eastern Europe, Central Asia, Middle East, North Africa and South Asia.
Heitner’s areas of expertise include the economic and financial evaluation
of projects, corporate financial analysis, the deregulation of petroleum
downstream markets, the policy and regulatory aspects of natural gas and
power-supply activities, energy sector reform and privatization and energy
pricing.

Steve Holditch is a leading management and technical expert in the upstream oil
and gas industry. Holditch currently holds the Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation
Chair in Petroleum Engineering at Texas A&M University and is the head of
the Department of Petroleum Engineering, where he has been on the faculty since
1976. From 1997 to 2004, Holditch served as a Schlumberger Fellow, advising on
production and reservoir engineering to the top managers at Schlumberger. He
founded S.A. Holditch and Associates in 1977 and was chairman, president and
chief executive officer of the company until 1997, when it became part of Schlumberger.
Holditch has received some of the industry’s top awards and has served
in leadership roles in various organizations, including the 2002 SPE President.
He holds BS, MS and PhD degrees from Texas A&M University.
